Montgomery County detectives are investigating a string of vehicle vandalisms and an auto theft that occurred Dec. 2 at various locations near Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, police said Monday in a statement.
At about 2:30 a.m. that day, four suspects broke into 21 vehicles in the areas of Belvedere Boulevard, Forest Glen Road, and Woodland, Dameron and Forest Grove drives, police said.
The suspects stole an undisclosed amount of money from one of the vehicles. The statement did not say whether other property had been stolen from other vehicles. Police did not immediately respond Monday morning to MoCo360’s request for comment regarding more information about the other vehicle break-ins.
Detectives reviewed surveillance video from a residence where a vehicle break-in occurred, the statement said. Police posted the video surveillance online and are hoping for assistance from the public in finding the suspects.
The video shows four suspects dressed in dark clothing, masks, hoodies and purple gloves walking toward a black vehicle in a driveway. Two of the suspects then open the car’s driver and passenger side doors and begin rummaging through the glove compartments and other storage areas.
Two other suspects pose as lookouts, with one pointing a handgun toward the residence and the other standing behind the cars and watching the road.
Police are urging anyone with information about the suspects or the break-ins to submit a tip to the Crime Solvers of Montgomery County website or to call 1-866-411-8477. Tips may remain anonymous and any that lead to an arrest may be eligible for a reward up to $10,000.

In our district and countywide, theft from auto and theft of auto parts is a challenge. A few things to note:
1. Recently we are seeing some reports of Honda vehicles having airbags stolen.
