The Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management & Homeland Security has issued an Extreme Cold Alert through 4 p.m. Thursday as weather forecasts call for low temperatures, possibly snow or rain showers and wind gusts greater than 40 mph.
An Extreme Cold Alert is issued when temperatures and/or wind chill values are expected to be at or below 32 degrees, according to the county.
A wind advisory is in effect until 6 p.m., with gusts up to 50 mph expected throughout the day, according to the National Weather Service. County residents are advised to secure loose objects.

Montgomery County Public Schools announced Thursday morning that while schools remain open, all outdoor activities will be held inside “due to forecasted low temperatures and expected high winds.”
