Bethesda resident and lifelong Washington football fan Samu Qureshi is planning to sell an estimated $6 million worth of memorabilia he’s collected commemorating the team now known as the Washington Commanders. Originally stored in his basement, Qureshi now stores his treasures in a “museum” located in a Bethesda office. Qureshi hopes the team will buy the collection. [The Washington Times]
Gaithersburg student has donated more than 20,000 books to local cancer patients
Gaithersburg resident Emily Bhatnagar decided to start using tips she received from waiting tables at her family’s restaurant, Monsoon Kitchens, to buy books for cancer patients after her father was diagnosed with cancer. Nearly four years later, the University of Pennsylvania student has distributed more than 20,000 books with the help of donations from the community. [WAMU]
Rosa Parks to be honored on county buses
The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will honor civil rights icon Rosa Parks by placing special placards in seats on county Ride On buses throughout the month of December.
