Montgomery County police arrested two 17-year-olds boys from Hyattsville Tuesday evening in Silver Spring in connection to an October armed carjacking that occurred in Prince George’s County, according to a Wednesday statement from police.

According to police, the teens were driving a white Kia Forte that had been stolen during an Oct. 28 armed carjacking. On Tuesday evening, officers with the department’s District Community Action Team spotted the car near Bel Pre Road and Parker Farm Way in Silver Spring.

At around 7:15 p.m. officers “initiated a traffic stop” on the Kia and the teen suspects were “quickly apprehended,” according to police. The traffic stop and arrest occurred in the 14200 block of Grand Pre Road, nearly 2 miles from where police initially spotted the stolen car.

Following the arrest, the teens were transported to the 4th District Police Station in Wheaton. They were charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and released to their caregivers, police said.
