City of Gaithersburg and Montgomery County police led an investigation that resulted in the arrest of four men who used what Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown called “flash mob”-style tactics to rob retail outlets. The men, who were indicted Monday, are accused of stealing $800,000 worth of items over 37 incidents in six Maryland counties. None of the four reside in Montgomery County, according to police. School system continues ‘active contract negotiations’ with Highland Electric

Chris Cram, director of Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Department of Communications recently told WJLA that the district is still working to recover the $1.5 million in fees that it invoiced Highland Electric for performance issues related to the district’s electric bus fleet. The school system remains in “active contract negotiations” with the company, Cram wrote, adding that “We want to emphasize that any funds identified as owed to the school system through our existing contract are expected to be recovered in a timely manner.” [WJLA]

‘FlashLights’ buses take to the streets

Buses adorned with festive lights are now running along U.S. Route 29. The Montgomery County Department of Transportation is encouraging riders to post pictures of a lit-up bus on social media for a chance to win a $25 gift card. [Source of the Spring]
