Virginia woman identified as victim of Gaithersburg fatal car crash

Vehicle left roadway, struck utility pole Thursday night

Montgomery County police identified a Reston, Virginia, woman as the victim of a fatal single-vehicle collision Thursday evening in Gaithersburg, police said Monday in a statement.

Alyssa Marie Clark, 42, was driving a blue 2007 Toyota Camry westbound on Darnestown Road near Bondy Lane when the car left the roadway and collided with a wooden utility pole, according to the statement. Clark “sustained life-threatening injuries” and was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service crews were dispatched to the 13300 block of Darnestown Road around 10:30 p.m. for the report of a “serious collision.”

As police and MCFRS crews responded, Bondy Lane at Darnestown Road was closed to vehicle traffic, according to a post from police on social media. It is unclear how long the road closure lasted.

The police department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating and asks anyone who may have witnessed the collision to call 240-773-6620.
