A 41-year-old woman was killed Thursday night when the car she was driving crashed into a wooden utility pole in Gaithersburg, Montgomery County police said Friday in a statement.
According to police, officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) crews were dispatched around 10:30 p.m. to 13300 block of Darnestown Road for the report of a “serious collision.”
The location of the collision was about 1.2 miles away from Quince Orchard High School.
As police and MCFRS crews responded to the collision, Bondy Lane at Darnestown Road was closed to vehicle traffic, according to a post from police on social media. It is unclear how long the road closure lasted.
MCFRS Public Information Office Pete Piringer wrote on social media just before 11 p.m. Thursday that the collision resulted in an entrapment. Piringer said the patient’s injuries were classified as Priority 1, which, according to Maryland protocols, is defined as a “critically ill or injured person requiring immediate attention; unstable patients with life-threatening injury or illness.”
