Street sweepers collect more than 1,000 illegally placed campaign signs

Crews with the Montgomery County Permitting Services have hit the streets after the Nov. 5 general election to remove illegally placed campaign signs from county roads. According to the department, about 1,050 signs have been collected in the past few weeks. [WTOP]

State highway and transportation officials launch pedestrian safety plan in Silver Spring

Improvements to roadway safety on University Boulevard between Georgia Avenue and Colesville Road are being planned, according to Maryland Department of Transportation. The plans are part of the State Highway Administration’s Pedestrian Safety Action Plan for the area.

Officials are hosting an informational workshop to gather input from residents on their safety needs. The workshop will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Margaret Schweinhaut Senior Center at 1000 Forest Glen Road in Silver Spring. [Montgomery Community Media]
