Montgomery County police called in the department’s SWAT team Friday night to end a six-hour barricade situation after a man took his girlfriend and a child hostage in a Silver Spring home. The woman and child were released before SWAT entered and took the suspect into custody. [WUSA9]

Drone helps nab juvenile robbery suspects

A drone deployed by Montgomery County police on Friday helped officers catch six juveniles allegedly trying to escape a store robbery in downtown Silver Spring. Police deployed the drone after receiving a 911 call and its camera captured the alleged suspects leaving the store and as they rode a bus. [WJLA]
