State issues guidelines on how schools should conduct active shooter drills

The Maryland Center for School Safety released formal guidelines regarding the best practices for how schools across the state should conduct active shooter drills and emergency preparedness. The new guidelines bring focus to the impact of the drills on students and staff as well as recommend the drills be announced beforehand and developmentally and age-appropriately designed. ‘Maryland got it right’: MoCo residents react to national election results

Some Montgomery County residents are feeling “disappointed” in the outcome of the U.S. general election, following President-elect Donald Trump’s decisive victory. But some also see hope in Democrat Angela Alsobrooks’ Senate win.

“I’m just glad Alsobrooks won because I know that she is in favor of women’s rights, women’s right to choose,” Chevy Chase resident May Kester said.

Group of boys beat man unconscious, steal his car in Takoma Park

A group of five boys beat up a man heading to his apartment building and stole his black 2012 Nissan Rogue around 4 a.m. Tuesday on the 700 block of Ethan Allen Avenue, according to Takoma Park police. The man was transported to a local hospital. Police were not able to find the car after a search and are asking anyone with information about the incident to call 301-270-1100. [WUSA9]
