A Silver Spring man is facing a first-degree murder charge in connection with the Oct. 22 death of his roommate, whose body was found in the bushes of a local bus stop, according to Montgomery County police.

On Friday, detectives arrested and charged Abraham Luna Perez, 26, police said Tuesday in a statement. He is being held without bond in the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. Information about Perez’s attorney was not available through Maryland online court records as of Wednesday morning.

At roughly 2:40 p.m. Oct. 22, officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) crews responded to the 9300 block of Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring, where they found 19-year-old Diego Edilberto Borja-Cardona with trauma to his body, according to police. Borja-Cardona was pronounced dead at the scene. No information about the type of trauma was provided.

According to radio transmissions, police responded for the report of a “code” behind the bushes at the bus stop. A “code” is a common term used in emergency radio transmissions to refer to a person who is dead. The dispatcher added that the caller said the man was “obviously not breathing and unconscious.”
