Two students at Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring are finalists in NPR’s national student podcast contest. Riley MacArthur and Lila Shaw created the podcast “Paper Dolls,” which explores how fashion impacts teen friendships. The two students were among 10 finalists picked from more than 2,000 entries. Growing number of unaffiliated voters in Maryland could impact elections

A growing number of Maryland residents registering as unaffiliated with any one political party could change the face of elections, and make the state’s races more competitive. Local nonprofit provides free beds for kids in need

A local nonprofit, Sleep in Heavenly Peace, is providing free beds for Montgomery County kids in need. The organization’s Montgomery Village chapter has donated beds to 110 children in the past year and a half. [Montgomery Community Media]
