Montgomery County police are seeking a driver who left on foot after allegedly striking a Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) employee working on a Fairland road on Oct. 24, according to a statement released Friday.

At approximately 9:10 a.m. that day, officers responded to the area of Briggs Chaney Road and Legend Oaks Drive for the report of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian, police said in the statement.

A MCDOT employee, who has not been identified, was working at the location was struck by the driver of a 2006 silver Infiniti sedan, according to the statement. The worker was transported to a local hospital with “serious injuries,” police said.

MCDOT Public Information Officer Emily DeTitta said in a statement to MoCo360 Monday that the department was “devastated” by the event.

DeTitta said the employee was hit by a car that left the roadway and was then flown to a shock trauma unit at an area hospital. As of Thursday, the employee is still recovering in the hospital but recently left the shock trauma unit, she said.
