Pedestrian struck, critically injured on Veirs Mill Road in Rockville

Portions of road closed after Wednesday morning collision

An adult pedestrian was hospitalized after being hit early Wednesday morning by a vehicle in the 12700 block of Veirs Mill Road in Rockville, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) spokesperson Pete Piringer.

The collision occurred around 5:30 a.m. on the road between Robindale Drive and Arbutus Avenue, Piringer wrote on social media.

Piringer said the pedestrian’s injuries were classified as Priority 1, which, according to Maryland protocols, is defined as a “critically ill or injured person requiring immediate attention; unstable patients with life-threatening injury or illness.”

No further details about the vehicle involved in the collision and why it may have occurred were available Wednesday morning.

Portions of Veirs Mill Road were closed for three hours while emergency officials responded.
