Shoppers at Westfield Montgomery mall in Bethesda will soon have four new stores to explore, including the return of Abercrombie & Fitch, the mall announced Monday.
Three of the stores — Abercrombie & Fitch, Tory Burch and Carter’s — are expected to open in November, according to a press release. The fourth, UNIQLO, is scheduled to open in mid-2025.
According to the blog Store Reporter, the original Abercrombie & Fitch, an apparel brand popular with teens in the 1990s and early 2000s, left the mall three years ago. The brand’s sister stores at the mall, abercrombie kids and Hollister, closed in 2016. Abercrombie & Fitch and abercrombie kids will return to the mall at a different location on the second level, between the Apple Store and Pandora jewelry, according to the mall map.
Tory Burch, an American women’s designer brand offering clothing, accessories, jewelry and bags, will be located on the mall’s second level next to Love Sac, a beanbag and furniture store, and across from Coach, according to the mall map.
Carter’s, which sells apparel for children and babies, will open on the first level between Windsor and American Eagle Outfitters, according to the mall map. There are three other Carter’s locations around the county in Gaithersburg, Westfield Wheaton mall and Clarksburg.
“These fashion destinations are expected to draw shoppers from all over the region,” the release stated.
In addition, UNIQLO, a Japanese brand known for its apparel basics, is also set to open in the 1.1 million-square-foot mall. According to the release, the retailer will open its doors in mid-2025. The new store will be UNIQLO’s third in Maryland, two others are located in downtown Silver Spring and North Bethesda’s Pike & Rose.
It is unclear where in the mall UNIQLO will be located. A spokesperson for Westfield Montgomery did not immediately respond to inquiries regarding the store’s upcoming location.
“We’re excited to expand our upscale retail offerings at Westfield Montgomery for the whole family,” Catherine Brady, marketing director at Westfield Montgomery, said in the release.
The projected openings come on the heels of the mall’s owner, Uniball-Rodamco-Westfield, failing to pay off a $350 million loan for the mall that was due in August, according to a Bisnow report. The owner subsequently received a two-year extension to pay off the debt as well as a new valuation that slashed its value from $680 million to $353 million in August.
Other stores have opened at the mall in recent months, such as JD Sports, a sportswear and sneaker retailer, and Läderach, the Swiss chocolatier.
JD Sports, on the first level next to Aeropostale, opened in late September and Läderach, on the second level next to ECCO, opened in the summer of 2024, according to the release.
