Montgomery County police are seeking a suspect in the Sept. 30 assault of an older woman in a Lidl grocery store parking lot in Gaithersburg, according to a statement released Tuesday.
At roughly 5 p.m. that day, an unknown female suspect allegedly assaulted a woman in the Lidl parking lot in the 19000 block of Montgomery Village Avenue, police said in the statement.
In a surveillance video released by police, the victim appears to be standing next to a dark-colored sedan. Then a woman appears to get out of the other side of the car. The woman walks around the back of the vehicle, approaches the victim and then pushes the victim, who falls to the ground.
Police spokesperson Degan Bartels said the victim confronted the suspect about parking in an accessible parking spot without an accessible parking placard.
The woman remains on the ground while the suspect walks to the back of the car and appears to say something before the video ends. The victim suffered cuts to her head and elbows due to the fall, according to Bartels.
The suspect is wanted for second-degree assault charges, according to police.
Detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect. Police are offering up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest.
