Montgomery County detectives have identified a man who was found dead Tuesday afternoon in the area behind a Ride On bus stop on Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring, according to police.
Diego Edilberto Borja-Cardona, 19, of Silver Spring was found with trauma to his body at around 2:38 p.m. after officers responded to 9300 block of Piney Branch Road, police said Thursday in a statement.
Police responded for the report of a “code” behind the bushes at the bus stop, according to police radio transmissions. A “code” is a common term used in emergency radio transmissions to refer to a person who is dead. The dispatcher added that the caller said the man was “obviously not breathing and unconscious.”
Police and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) crews arrived at the site, determined the man was dead and noted that he had trauma to his body, police said Tuesday night in a statement. No information about the type of trauma was provided.
The address is near the Forest Park Apartments and the intersection of Piney Branch Road and New Hampshire Avenue.
The man was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of his death, according to police.
Police said the man’s identity will be released following the proper notification of the next of kin.
