In Montgomery County, some families have sold their homes as they grapple with financial hardships getting their children treatment for fentanyl addiction, according to Jonathan Henriquez, a program manager at county nonprofit Identity. One Silver Spring mother told NBC 4 that she lost her cleaning business helping her son in treatment. [NBC Washington]

Montgomery Village mom faces up to 30 years for neglecting children

Cynthia Moore, a mother of seven, was acquitted in the death of one and found guilty for the neglect of the others on Wednesday. The 17-year-old daughter who died weighed just 79 pounds when she was found by police and first responders in the home in May 2022, according to court documents. [The Washington Post]

‘Dork Diaries’ authors to visit Gaithersburg Library

Rachel Renée Russell and Nikki Russell, the mother-daughter author and illustrator duo behind the popular tween book series Dork Diaries are heading to the Gaithersburg Library Nov. 2 to celebrate the release of the 16th book in the series. The event will be held from 1:30 to 6 p.m. at the library, 18330 Montgomery Village Ave. [Montgomery Community Media]
