Montgomery County police identified a 22-year-old Rockville man as the motorcyclist killed Saturday night in a two-vehicle collision on Rockville Pike in North Bethesda, according to authorities.
Baeley Aubrey Thackston was traveling northbound on Rockville Pike and approaching Tuckerman Lane at about 7:20 p.m. when his motorcycle was struck by the driver of a black Toyota Sienna minivan, police said Monday in a statement. The driver was traveling southbound on Rockville Pike and making a left turn on Tuckerman Lane at the time.
Police and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service crews responded to the collision. Thackston was pronounced dead after life-saving efforts failed, according to the statement.
The minivan driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital, police said.
An online obituary for Thackston invited family and friends to leave their condolences.
“As we bid farewell to this luminous soul, let their loved ones carry forward the torch of their memory, illuminating the path ahead with the warmth of their love and the brilliance of their spirit,” the obituary said. “Though Baeley Aubrey may journey beyond the horizon of our sight, their essence remains woven into the very fabric of our being — a guiding light in the darkness, a beacon of hope in the night.”
