According to police, around 4 p.m. the woman was walking along the trail when a man approached her and “inappropriately” touched her. Then the man ran off down the trail.

Park police Public Information Officer Tracy Lieberman told MoCo360 that police did not have any updates as of Monday afternoon. Lieberman said in an email that police are hoping to hear from two people on bikes who were near the incident and other potential witnesses.

The Montgomery County Division of the Park Police is investigating the incident and is asking anyone with information to contact the Park Police Tip Line at 301-929-2748 or CrimeTips@mncparkpolice.org.

Police described the suspect as a Black male between 20 and 25 years old, about 6 feet tall, and wearing a T-shirt and jogger pants, both black, and a black cap.

Police advise trail users to go with a friend or group when possible, carry a cell phone to call 911 and a whistle or noise maker, and to be alert.
