Shop earned ‘Most Creative Frozen Treats’ honor from Bethesda Magazine in 2022

Carmen’s Italian Ice, a Montgomery County-born dessert shop selling Italian ice and other sweet treats, has opened in Kensington, according to the shop.

The shop is at 10309 Kensington Parkway in the same shopping center as The Dish & Dram restaurant and near BabyCat Brewery.

At 3 p.m. Friday, the dessert shop kicked off a grand opening celebration that will last throughout the weekend, the shop posted on social media. It held a soft opening pop-up at the Kensington shop that began Oct. 5.

In addition to other treats. the menu includes gelati, including a fall gelati made with homemade apple crisp and vanilla frozen custard.

Bethesda Magazine’s editors selected Carmen’s as its Best of Bethesda’s “Most Creative Frozen Treats” in 2022.

The Kensington shop is owned by Jerry Walters and Bradley Riddle, who are licensed to use the Carmen’s Italian Ice name and products made by business owner and founder Jason Mandler, according to Lauren Russ, events and catering manager for Carmen’s Italian Ice.
