On Tuesday, state legislators visited a Rockville auto shop, Fleming’s Ultimate Garage, to learn how a Silver Spring-based nonprofit SEEC (Seeking Employment, Equality and Community) helps individuals with disabilities find jobs and reach their personal development goals. [WUSA9]

More MoCo first responders head south to help with hurricane recovery

Maryland’s specialized rescue team, known as Maryland Task Force 1, is sending 45 more team members – some of whom work for Montgomery County – to North Carolina to help with recovery efforts after Hurricane Helene. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service Chief Corey Smedley said the new team will allow the initial task force team that went to North Carolina to return home. The team will deliver supplies and potentially help with Hurricane Milton relief in Florida. [WTOP]

County appoints news director of public libraries

Darcell Graham, the interim president and CEO at Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore, is the county’s new director of public libraries. She replaces Anita Vassallo, who served for more than 50 years in the county’s library department. [Montgomery Community Media]
