Montgomery County police identified Dinora Aleman Amaya, 30, of Germantown as the woman killed Monday night in a fatal pedestrian collision in Gaithersburg, according to authorities.
At approximately 9:18 p.m., Amaya was struck while crossing Great Seneca Highway by the driver of a 2019 Honda Civic traveling southbound and approaching Kentlands Boulevard, police said Wednesday in a statement.
The car hit Amaya as she was crossing toward Orchard Ridge Road , police said. The driver remained at the scene and is “cooperating with investigators.”
County police, Gaithersburg city police and crews from Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) were dispatched to the scene.
MCFRS crews provided medical assistance, but Amaya was pronounced dead, police said.

Following Monday night’s crash, police closed Great Seneca Highway at Quince Orchard Boulevard and at Lakelands Drive while officers investigated.
