Woman dies after being hit by vehicle in Gaithersburg

Collision occurred Monday night, police say

A woman was struck and killed by a vehicle Monday night in Gaithersburg, according to Montgomery County police.

Officers from the Gaithersburg and county police departments responded at about 9:17 p.m. to a report of a collision in the area of Great Seneca Highway and Kentlands Boulevard, police said Monday night in a statement.

Officers found a woman in the roadway, though the statement did not say which road. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service crews responded and provided medical assistance, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene, police said, and is “cooperating with Investigators.”

Police closed Great Seneca Highway at Quince Orchard Boulevard and at Lakelands Drive while officers investigated, the statement said.

The statement said the woman’s identity would be provided following proper notification of the next of kin.
