Law named for police officer killed by drunk driver goes into effect

A Montgomery County police officer killed in the line of duty by a drunk driver in 2015 has inspired a law that went into effect Tuesday. “Noah’s Law,” which was named for officer Noah Leotta, requires an ignition interlock system to be added to a car if a driver gets a DUI and probation before judgement. MCPS Blended Learning Program open to applicants

Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) students who have a medical condition that prevents them from attending classes in-person can now apply for the Blended Learning Program. The online classes take the place of the Montgomery Virtual Academy, which was closed earlier this year. Classes for eligible students starts Nov. 6. [Fox 5]

Pioneering procedure: Montgomery County woman receives plastic ankle replacement

A Montgomery County woman, 71, became the first person to receive a completely plastic ankle replacement after her surgery last week. The woman, who is allergic to metal pieces that would usually be used, had the surgery at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. [WTOP]
