Pedestrian Jose Rene Del Cid Ramos, 61, was hit and killed by a 2010 Nissan Maxima Tuesday night in Rockville, according to Montgomery County police.
Just before 9:15 p.m., Rockville City Police officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) crews responded to the intersection of Hungerford Drive and Beall Avenue for reports of a collision involving the Nissan Maxima and a pedestrian, according to a Thursday statement from county police.
First responders located Del Cid Ramos with “multiple serious injuries” and he was then transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
The driver of the Nissan Maxima was traveling northbound on Hungerford when they struck Del Cid Ramos, police said, adding that the driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
The collision occurred near Rockville Town Square and the Rockville Volunteer Fire Department.
According to a Rockville City Police Department social media post, Hungerford Drive in the area of Beall Avenue was closed for vehicle travel after the collision.
MCPD’s Collision Reconstruction Unit is urging those who may have witnessed the collision to contact them at 240-773-6620. The investigation is active and ongoing, police said.
