Baltimore librarian interviews for Montgomery County’s top spot

Darcell Graham, interim president and CEO at Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore City, met with the Montgomery County Council on Tuesday to interview for the role of head of the county’s department of libraries. The job pays $230,000 annually with benefits and Graham said that if she is approved by the council she will “align” the libraries with the rest of the county’s “wealth of resources.” [Montgomery Community Media]

Film festival brings premieres, director Q&As to Silver Spring

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, the AFI Latin American Film Fest returns to AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center from Thursday through Oct. 10. More than 40 films will be showcased starting with a of “La Cocina” and a Q&A with Mexican filmmaker Alonso Ruizpalacios. [WTOP]

White Oak building awarded grant

National Capital Strategic Economic Development Fund has awarded a $2 million grant to impove the Sears building in White Oak. The building on New Hampshire Avenue has sat vacant for three years and the hope is that improvements could attract a new tenant. [The MoCoShow]
