Germantown man pleads guilty to bribery charges from time working at IRS

A Germantown man and former Internal Revenue Service employee pleaded guilty to bribery charges and faces 15 years in prison, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. Satbir Thukral, 62, allegedly conducted two bribery schemes to help people he knew land contracts with the IRS. [Fedscoop]

Wheaton doctor starts community walking program 

Wheaton doctor Asha Subramanian’s “Walk With A Doc” program aims to make activity accessible. The walking group, which meets the third Saturday of each month, includes a health education talk as well as additional activities such as yoga or stretching. [WTOP]

Local cannabis dispensaries unionize

Workers at two Montgomery County cannabis dispensaries have voted to unionize. The Apothecarium cannabis dispensary in Burtonsville and Sweetspot cannabis dispensary in Olney will become part of the United Food & Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 400 Union. [Montgomery Community Media]
