Montgomery County police are investigating the death of a woman Monday night in a domestic-related incident at a Bethesda apartment, according to authorities.
A man has been taken into custody, police said early Tuesday on social media.
According to police, officers responded shortly before 11 p.m. Monday to a report of a domestic-related incident in the 10500 block of Westlake Drive. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service crews were dispatched to the scene about 15 minutes later, according to police radio transmissions.
A caller reported hearing a neighbor “scream for help,” according to the transmissions.
One responding officer reported that a man at the scene did not comply to commands when officers arrived and closed the apartment door, according to the transmissions. “We don’t know if he’s armed,” the officer reported.
Upon gaining entry, officers found a woman dead at the scene, the statement said.
At about 11:20, police reported that a suspect was in custody, according to the transmissions.
The woman was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy to officially determine the cause and manner of death.
Police said the name of the woman will be released following the proper notification of next of kin.
