With budget cuts leading to the demise of Montgomery County Public Schools’ online learning academy, more than 700 students had to make new plans for the school year. For some, like one Germantown third grader, that meant Monday was her first day of in-person learning at her local elementary school. [The Washington Post]

North Potomac teen appears on American Ninja Warrior

Karen Potts, a 19-year-old Thomas S. Wootton High School alum, appeared on Monday night’s episode of the TV show American Ninja Warrior. Currently attending Case Western Reserve University in Ohio, Potts credited her athletic career at Wootton–including turns on the soccer, basketball and softball teams–with preparing her. [WTOP]

Multiple businesses targeted in overnight break-ins

Stores in Chevy Chase, Glen Echo and Silver Spring had doors and windows smashed Tuesday morning in a series of break-ins. Police did not say whether the three incidents are related. [NBC 4]
