Montgomery County police have identified Juan Guerrero-Moreno, 28, of Silver Spring as the man who died Tuesday after his riding lawn mower was struck by a vehicle in Gaithersburg.

Montgomery County and Gaithersburg police officers along with county fire and rescue service crews responded at about 1:13 p.m. to a report of a collision involving a black 2021 Genesis G70 sports sedan and the operator of a riding lawn mower at the intersection of Great Seneca Highway and High Gables Drive, county police said Wednesday in a news release.

First responders found the lawn mower operator, identified as Guerrero-Moreno, unresponsive in the roadway and performed life-saving measures, according to the release.

Guerrero-Moreno was transported to an area hospital “with serious injuries, where he was later pronounced dead,” the release said.

During an investigation, detectives determined the driver of the Genesis was traveling northbound on Great Seneca Highway when “for reason still under investigation” the driver struck Guerrero-Moreno who was on a zero-turn riding mower as he was crossing the northbound lanes of Great Seneca Highway, traveling from east to west, the release said.

The driver of the Genesis, who was not identified, remained at the scene.

Detectives ask anyone who may have witnessed the collision to call 240-773-6620.
