One person was injured Monday evening when a car backed into a shop at Wildwood Shopping Center on Old Georgetown Road in Bethesda, according to Montgomery County police.
Officers responded to a report at 5:54 p.m. that the driver of a vehicle had backed into an establishment, police spokesperson Lauren Ivey wrote in an email to MoCo360.
“One person was transported from the scene [with] non-life-threatening injuries,” Ivey wrote. She did not specify if the injured person was the driver. No other information was provided.
According to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) officials, the car struck an athletic clothing store Flex All Day. On Tuesday morning, a window of the shop was boarded up.
MCFRS Assistant Chief Public Information Officer Daniel Ogren told MoCo360 Tuesday that the driver of the vehicle was an older man. After the crash, the man was evaluated and taken to the hospital with “very minor injuries.”
Damage primarily impacted the facade of the storefront, Ogren noted. “I don’t think it was any super structural damage,” he said.
No other injuries were reported, according to Ogren.
