Four teenagers have been arrested and charged with auto theft and possession of a firearm following an investigation of a shooting Monday afternoon in Germantown, according to Montgomery County police.
One 16-year-old and three 15-year-old boys were arrested, police said Tuesday in a release. Two of the 15-year-olds were transported to a local police station and released to their parents. The 16-year-old was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. He was released to his guardian at the police station after being discharged from the hospital, according to police.
The third 15-year-old suspect was apprehended and searched by officers, who located a loaded .40 caliber handgun. He was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. After being released from the hospital, he was taken into the custody of the county Department of Juvenile Services, where he was also charged with possession of a firearm, according to police.
According to police, officers responded to the 19200 block of Circle Gate Drive around 4:52 p.m. Monday after receiving reports of a shooting. Two apartments and a vehicle were shot at and officers found shell casings, but no one was injured, the release said.
Following the shooting, officers were able to track down a suspect vehicle, a black 2016 Hyundai Accent, which they determined was stolen. Officers observed the car in the area of Rothbury Drive and Goshen Road at approximately 5:33 p.m., according to the release.
Two suspects jumped out of the car after a short pursuit. The vehicle stopped in the 20120 block of Rothbury Lane and the two remaining suspects fled, the release said. Officers then took all four suspects into custody after establishing a perimeter.
