Fire displaces 43 families, injures firefighters at Clarksburg apartment building

Rockville gun buyback event nets about 300 weapons; new bilingual child care center to open in Silver Spring

Forty-three families were displaced and four firefighters were injured during a blaze Saturday at an apartment building in Clarksburg, according to authorities.

Two of the four injured firefighters and two residents were transported to local hospitals with non-critical injuries sustained during the fire at the building in the 12000 block of Clarksburg Square Road, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service. [WTOP]

New bilingual child development center to open in Silver Spring

A new bilingual child care center housed in the former Silver Spring library on Colesville Road is expected to open in October. The Martha Gudelsky Child Development Center will be run by CentroNía, which also runs a center in Takoma Park. [Montgomery Community Media]
