Montgomery County police have charged a 20-year-old man in the shooting death Monday of a 21-year-old man in Montgomery Village, according to authorities.
Oliver Alexis Perez Fierro of Montgomery Village was arrested Monday afternoon and charged with first-degree murder and one count of use of a handgun in the commission of a felony, police said Tuesday in a statement.
Court records and attorney information for Perez Fierro’s case were unavailable Tuesday morning.
Perez Fierro is being held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit Rockville, where he awaits a bond hearing, police said. The shooting is believed to be an isolated incident between the two men.
The identity of the 21-year-old shooting victim will be released following the proper notification of next of kin, the statement said.
According to police, officers responded about 11:40 a.m. Monday to a report of a shooting in the 19300 block of Club House Road. Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Though police initially reported on social media that a man was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries, the statement said lifesaving attempts at the scene failed and the man was pronounced dead.
Detectives soon identified Perez Fierro as “a possible suspect and the alleged shooter,” police said. He was taken into custody at about 12:15 p.m. Monday. Police said a search warrant was issued and executed at Perez Fierro’s residence and recovered items of “evidentiary value.”
