A woman was killed and a man was seriously injured in a two-car collision Tuesday evening in the Brookville area, according to authorities.
On Wednesday afternoon, Montgomery County police identified Angela Marie Brill, 56, of Martinsburg, West Viriginia, as the woman who died in the collision.
On Tuesday, officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MVFRS) crews responded shortly after 5 p.m. to a report of a collision involving a blue 2023 Chevrolet Malibu and a black 2012 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck in the area of Georgia Avenue between Triadelphia Lake Road and the Howard County/Montgomery County Line, police said in a statement.
Brill, who was driving the Chevrolet Malibu, was transported by helicopter to a shock trauma center in Baltimore where she was pronounced dead, according to police. The male driver of Toyota pickup was transported to an area hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
According to police, a preliminary investigation has revealed that the Toyota’s driver was “traveling southbound on Georgia Avenue when, for reasons that are still under investigation, [he] crossed the centerline and struck the Chevrolet that was traveling northbound.”
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokesman Pete Piringer wrote on social media that the collision involved “entrapment [with a] vehicle into a tree.”
Georgia Avenue was closed between New Hampshire Avenue and Jennings Chapel Road after the collision, he said.
