Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School in Germantown was evacuated Tuesday afternoon due to a report of smoke in the building, but no fire was found, according to county officials.

Montgomery Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) crews who responded to the school at 13700 Wisteria Dr. located an “overheated/burned up HVAC belt,” spokesperson Pete Piringer wrote on social media shortly after 2 p.m. “No fire, no injuries.”

He said Montgomery County Public Schools was handling the repairs.
