The Washington, D.C., region will enter its fifth heat wave of the year as temperatures are expected to rise to or above 90 degrees and last about a week. Sweltering temperatures will return after the region experienced the fourth hottest July on record. [WTOP]

Silver Spring resident to lead D.C. environmental film fest

Silver Spring native Monic Schorn was named the executive director of the Environmental Film Festival in the Nation’s Capital, the Washington, D.C.-based festival announced Tuesday. Schorn will lead the festival into its 33rd year. [Source of the Spring]

Hello Kitty food truck will make a stop in Bethesda next weekend

On Aug. 10 the Hello Kitty Café Truck is coming to Bethesda Row. Hello Kitty lovers can visit the truck, at 4900 Bethesda Ave., from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and munch on treats including macarons and giant-sized cookies or purchase merchandise. [DC News Now]
