Three pedestrians, including a 13-year-old, were struck by vehicles Tuesday in three separate collisions in the county, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) officials.
The first collision occurred around 1 p.m. at Girard Street and Allied Place in Gaithersburg, MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer said on social media. The pedestrian, an adult male, suffered trauma classified as Priority 2 and was transported to a local hospital, Piringer said. No information was provided about the driver involved in the collision.
A Priority 2 trauma designation is assigned to patients in less serious conditions but with potentially life-threatening injuries or illnesses, requiring emergency medical attention, according to the Maryland Medical Protocols for Emergency Medical Services Providers.
In the second collision, a vehicle struck a 13-year-old child at around 8:45 p.m. on Randolph Road at Dalewood Drive in the Wheaton-Glenmont area, according to Piringer. MCFRS crews transported the child, also designated as a Priority 2 trauma but with non-life-threatening injuries, to an area hospital. No information was provided about the driver involved in the collision.
Later Tuesday evening, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at Georgia Avenue and Rossmoor Boulevard, near the entrance to Leisure World in Silver Spring, Piringer said on social media. He did not share what time the collision occurred or the pedestrian’s condition.
Montgomery County police spokesperson Shiera Goff declined MoCo360’s request Wednesday to share details about the pedestrian’s condition.
