Police identify pedestrian killed in Silver Spring collision

Incident occurred Saturday night on University Boulevard East

Montgomery County police have identified a 30-year-old man as the pedestrian who was fatally struck by a vehicle Saturday night in Silver Spring.

Aman Abraham Gebreyesus of Silver Spring was hit by a blue 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee as he was crossing the eastbound lanes of University Boulevard East at Langley Drive, police said Tuesday in a statement.

Officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service crews responded shortly before 9 p.m. to a report of a collision at the intersection, according to the statement.

Gebreyesus was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The Jeep driver, who was not identified, remained at the collision site.
