Raskin letter to Biden: Listen to Democrats while deciding about staying in the race

U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-District 8) of Takoma Park urged President Joe Biden in a letter sent earlier this month to consider Democrats’ concerns about his decision to stay in the presidential race. Raskin largely praised Biden in the letter but likened his continuing in the race to Boston Red Sox pitcher Pedro Martínez, who famously is blamed for the team losing an important playoff game due to his extended playing time.

“There is no shame in taking a well-deserved bow to the overflowing appreciation of the crowd when your arm is tired out, and there is real danger for the team in ignoring the statistics,” Raskin wrote in the letter, which was obtained by POLITICO. [POLITICO]
