Man injured in shooting behind Harris Teeter in Olney

Suspect at large in Thursday night incident, according to police radio transmissions

A 23-year-old man was shot in both legs Thursday night behind the Harris Teeter grocery store in Olney, according to Montgomery County police radio transmissions.

Police responded around 8 p.m. to a report of a shooting outside of 3031 Appomattox Ave., according to the transmissions. A woman reported that her boyfriend had been shot behind the grocery store, which is located at 18169 Town Center Drive.

At the scene, a responding officer said he was placing tourniquets on both of the men’s legs, the transmissions said.

The man was transported to a local hospital with “non-life-threatening injuries,” police wrote on social media shortly before 8:30 p.m.

A witness reported the shooting suspect fled in a blue sedan, according to the transmissions.

Another officer reported that four shell casings had been recovered on the ground.
