Montgomery County police are searching for a male suspect in a Friday shooting in Gaithersburg as well as people who may have witnessed the incident, according to a Thursday news release.
The shooting occurred in the 18400 block of Mayapple Court near Flower Hill Local Park, according to the release, which included surveillance video of the incident.
According to police, a suspect and other persons of interest got into an argument with other people at the scene and the suspect then fired a handgun. One person was struck in the knee, police said.
The injured person was later transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
In the video of the shooting shared by police online and on social media, a person in a black T-shirt can be seen standing in an alley and the sound of a gunshot can be heard. Another person in a white T-shirt then backs toward the other person.
Yells and a scream can be heard after the initial shot.
Seconds later, the alleged suspect appears on screen, wearing a gray tank top and a white T-shirt draped over his shoulder, holding a handgun. The suspect fires six more gunshots down the alley and the two initial witnesses leave the scene. As the suspect fires the gun, another person runs down the alley toward the suspect and then both leave the scene.
