Seth Adams, the deputy chief of facilities management for Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), is stepping down from his position at the end of July to pursue new opportunities, according to MCPS public information officer Liliana Lopez.
Local blog Moderately MoCo first reported Adams’s resignation on Wednesday.
Adams has worked at MCPS for 16 years — since 2008 — according to his LinkedIn account. He’s previously held the titles of director of the Department of Facilities Management, construction director and associate superintendent of facilities management, according to MoCo360.
Adams’s last day in the position is July 26, Lopez said in an email Thursday.
During his tenure, Adams has been involved with several projects in MCPS including moving the school system’s headquarters to Rockville earlier this year.
The facilities management office is responsible for capital planning and property asset management, design and construction, operations and maintenance and resource conservation and sustainability, according to the MCPS website.
Adams’ departure follows that of Brian Hull, the former MCPS chief operating officer who left the district June 14.
MCPS chose not to replace Hull and instead announced several organizational changes designed to fulfill the role’s responsibilities.
Hull’s departure came three days before the county school board named Thomas Taylor as the new MCPS superintendent. Taylor, the former superintendent of Stafford County Public Schools in Virginia, started his new job July 1.
