Traffic was snarled for hours Sunday morning after a tractor-trailer truck struck in a hit-and-run collision caught fire and dumped barrels of metal on I-495 in the area of Bradley Boulevard and Interstate 270, according to the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service. [WTOP]

Metro fares increase by 12.5%

For the first time in seven years, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority increased fares systemwide. Under the 12.5% increase, which went into effect Sunday, fares will now range from $2.25 to $6.75. [NBC4]
