Man injured in shooting at Taco Bell Cantina in downtown Silver Spring, police say

Officers are searching for suspects in Sunday night incident

County police are searching for suspects in a shooting Sunday night that injured a man at the Taco Bell Cantina in downtown Silver Spring, according to police radio transmissions.

Police received a report of a shooting shortly after 6 p.m. at the restaurant at 8662 Colesville Road, the transmissions said. Responding officers found a bullet casing in the restaurant, according to the transmissions.

County police spokesperson Shiera Goff confirmed in an email Sunday night that officers are searching for suspects. “No one is in custody at this time,” she wrote at 9:15 p.m.

A short time after the shooting was reported, a male who had been shot in the back of the head arrived at the emergency room at Holy Cross Hospital at 1500 Forest Glen Road in Silver Spring, according to the transmissions. The male said he had been shot at the Colesville Road restaurant, the transmissions said.

According to Goff’s email, “one person arrived at an area hospital in a private vehicle with a gunshot wound. The adult male has a non-life-threatening injury.”
