Montgomery County police have charged a 24-year-old man in connection with the November 2023 shooting death of another man in Silver Spring.
Jose Ramon Ventura was arrested Thursday and charged with accessory after the fact for driving and transporting two people believed to be responsible for the shooting death of Orlando Alexander Satz Jr. of Capitol Heights, according to a police statement. The statement did not list an address for Ventura.
Satz Jr., 20, died Nov. 28, 2023, after crashing his car into a parked vehicle on the 3600 block of Spruell Drive, according to police. Officers dispatched to the location for a single-car collision found a Toyota Corolla that had struck a parked vehicle.
Upon hearing the crash, neighbors had pulled Satz Jr. out of the car and attempted CPR, police said. Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service crews then arrived and saw that Satz Jr. had apparent gunshot wounds, according to police.
Satz Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was transported to the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore to determine the exact cause of death, according to police.
While investigating the death of Satz Jr. as a homicide, detectives identified Ventura as “the driver of a black Honda Civic that two suspects entered after the shooting,” Friday’s statement said.
The statement did not provide any information about the two suspects.
Ventura is being held without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit in Boyds.
No attorney information for Ventura was available in court records Friday afternoon.
Detectives ask anyone with information regarding the suspects involved in the shooting death of Satz Jr. to visit the county’s Crime Solvers website at www.crimesolversmcmd.org or to call 866-411-8477.
