An unattended candle in a bedroom sparked a fire in a Germantown town house Wednesday afternoon, leaving two adults and three children displaced, according to the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS).
MCFRS crews responded about 1:40 p.m. to the report of a fire in a town house in a development on Birdseye Court, spokesperson Pete Piringer wrote on social media.
Firefighters extinguished flames in the bedroom, he wrote. None of the five occupants was injured.
The Red Cross is assisting the occupants who were displaced from the two-story home, he said.
Piringer noted that firefighters installed two smoke detectors in the home.
