Montgomery County police have identified a Beltsville man as the motorcyclist killed early Wednesday in a collision in the Calverton area.

Yuan Long Yuin, 43, was pronounced dead at the crash scene on Columbia Pike near Fairland Road, police said in a statement Thursday afternoon.

According to police, officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue crews responded shortly before 1:30 a.m. Wednesday to a report of a single-vehicle collision involving a green 2002 Honda CBR600 motorcycle.

Investigators found preliminarily that Yuin’s Honda was “traveling southbound on Columbia Pike, when for reason’s unknown at this time, he lost control, causing him to strike a guardrail and eject from the motorcycle,” the statement said.

The fatal collision was the second in less than a week involving a motorcycle. Early Saturday, another man was killed when he was ejected from the motorcycle he was riding after it struck a curb and a traffic light pole in White Oak, according to police.

Detectives said the investigation is ongoing and ask anyone with information to call 240-773-6620.
