A Damascus woman has been arrested for attempted robberies at gunpoint of two separate McDonald’s restaurants in Gaithersburg on Sunday. Carrie Lynn Nelson, 41, is being held without bond. [The MoCo Show]

Takoma Park police giving ‘tickets’ to kids for good behavior

Takoma Park police will reward children’s good behavior with “tickets” as part of the Operation Chill program. Children spotted doing a good deed or behaving well could receive a reward that will entitle them to a Slurpee. [WTOP]

New ice cream shop to open in downtown Silver Spring

A new family-owned ice cream shop will be opening in downtown Silver Spring in the vacant spot previously held by Smoothie King. While it was rumored a TCBY would be opening in the space, Lil’ Sumthin’ Sweet will take the spot, offering ice cream, cakes, pies, coffee and more. An opening date has not been announced.
